Our two parties make our politics less representative. They're the real spoilers, not independent voters.
For too long, independent voters have been dismissed as “spoilers.” But what if that label is not a weakness—but a strength? What if spoiling is exactly what our democracy needs to reclaim the American Dream?
The True Spoilers: Partisan Politics
Let’s be clear: if partisan politics is making our political process less representative, then they should be understood to be the true spoilers.
Partisan politics has entrenched itself in our system, protecting the interests of a few while ignoring the needs and desires of the majority. Gerrymandered districts, outdated election rules, and gridlock in Washington are not accidents—they are symptoms of a system designed to serve party elites, not the people.
Independent voters are challenging this status quo. We are not spoiling democracy—we are spoiling the dysfunction that has taken root in our political institutions.
Independents Are the Majority—and the Future
According to the Independent Center’s September 2025 poll:
- 30% of Americans identify as Moderate Centrist/Independent—the largest political group in the country, outnumbering both strong Democrats (23%) and strong Republicans (23%).
- 66% of voters say they would vote for a strong independent candidate who shares their views.
- 47% of Americans want more ballot choices, including independents and third parties.
- Only 8% of Gen Z view independents as spoilers, compared to 27% of the Silent Generation.
These numbers tell a powerful story: independent voters are not fringe actors—we are the center of gravity in American politics.
Spoiling the Toxic Narrative
The two major parties have spent decades locked in a zero-sum battle for power. Meanwhile, independents are disrupting this cycle, demanding problem-solving over partisanship, and accountability over ideology.
We are spoiling:
- Toxic partisanship that prioritizes party loyalty over public service.
- Broken systems that protect politicians instead of voters.
- Dysfunction in Washington that stalls real solutions.
- Outdated narratives that paint independents as irrelevant.
By embracing the “spoiler” label, independents are turning it into a badge of honor—a rallying cry for reform, representation, and renewal of the modernized American Dream.
Reclaiming the American Dream
The American Dream is not just about wealth or status—it’s about opportunity, fairness, and the belief that every citizen has a voice. But partisan politics has distorted that dream, turning it into a game of power and exclusion.
Independent voters are restoring optimism to our democracy. We believe in entrepreneurship, innovation, and civic engagement. We believe in a future where voters—not parties—come first.
America Needs Spoilers
If the current system is broken, then spoiling it is an act of patriotism. Independents are not tearing down democracy—we are rebuilding it. We are creating space for new ideas, new leaders, and a renewed commitment to the American Dream.
Join us in spoiling toxic politics. Let’s build a movement that puts voters first, challenges entrenched interests, and reclaims the promise of a modernized American Dream for all.
